Jubilee Year 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
A Year of Celebrations
The Catholic Church has declared 2025–2026 a special Jubilee Year, called Pilgrims of Hope. A Jubilee is traditionally a time of renewal, forgiveness, reconciliation, and charity — it occurs every twenty-five years as an
opportunity for the faithful to pause, reflect, and restore right relationships: with God, with others, and with all creation.
The theme Pilgrims of Hope reminds us that though the world faces many challenges — such as inequality, suffering, wars, environmental crises, and the lasting effects of the pandemic — we are called to carry hope forward.
Some of the key moments of the Jubilee include the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica (on Christmas Eve 2024), and the year concluding on the Feast of the Epiphany in 2026.
Pope Francis reminded us that:
“We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”
Pope Leo, when speaking at the Jubilee of Youth event, said:
“The world needs messages of hope: you are that message, and you must continue to bring hope to all.”
The Year of Jubilee in our School
For us as a school community, this Jubilee is a chance to:
-
Deepen our hope and trust in God, especially in hard times
-
Practise forgiveness, kindness, reconciliation within our school and beyond
-
Become more aware of our responsibilities to care for creation and the most vulnerable
-
Be active pilgrims: walking in faith, love, service — small steps that reflect the Gospel of hope
