Prayer is central to what we believe and how we act as a way of communicating with God. It is at the heart of the religious life of our school and we believe that prayer brings us closer to God and to one another.

There are a number of moments each day when all other activities pause and staff and children come together to pray.

Our prayer life includes

  • Morning Prayer
  • Grace Before Meals
  • Evening Prayer
  • Our School Prayer
  • Hail Mary (Our Patron Saint)
  • Intercessions to Mary (Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Pray for Us)

Children are also taught a range of other common Catholic prayers during their time at school, building on the prayers they know each year. These are outlined in the Prayer Progression document below.

Praying as an OLQM Staff Team

All staff meetings, briefings and gatherings start with a moment of prayer and reflection. Staff are invited if they wish to, to use prayer spaces around school to offer their personal prayers to God, and to model the importance of prayer to pupils.
